Who operates NewBar
NewBar is independently operated under QuickSwitch. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or to request account deletion, use our support form or contact newbar@quickswitch.com.au.
Your website account
We store your email address, a protected password hash, email-verification status, account dates and any two-factor authentication settings. We use these to operate your account, recover access and protect purchases. Passwords are hashed; we do not store your plain-text password. Owner access requires an authenticator code.
Purchases and payments
Stripe Checkout collects and processes payment information. We store order references, amounts, currency, payment status, payment references and licence entitlements. We do not receive or store your full card number or security code. Stripe receives the account email and checkout information needed to complete the transaction. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
Licence and update checks
The licensing-enabled release of NewBar will contact this website on each launch and once a day to check activation status and available updates. It sends a randomly generated device identifier, your chosen Mac name, a device public key and the app’s build number. A successful check records the last-contact time. We do not require your Mac serial number, hardware fingerprint, list of running apps, screenshots or clipboard contents for licensing. A private key stays on your Mac to authenticate checks.
Activation records connect your Macs to the licence in your account. A paid licence keeps a signed entitlement to eligible builds; reaching the end of its update period does not end app access. Trials and beta licences are time-limited. Revocation takes effect on a successful online check; this is not continuous surveillance.
Information on your Mac
NewBar uses macOS permissions for features such as window control, previews, screenshots, microphone input, protected-folder access and optional location. Clipboard text history is stored locally in NewBar’s Application Support folder; clipboard images remain in memory while NewBar runs. Screenshots are processed locally unless you copy, save or share them elsewhere. Clear clipboard history or remove local app data when you no longer want it retained.
Speech recognition runs on your Mac after downloading the speech model. Optional Smart polishing can use a local model or your own OpenAI API key. Choosing OpenAI sends the transcription to that provider; this is separate from NewBar’s licence service. Local model downloads and selected providers have their own network connections and terms.
Weather requests go directly to OpenWeather using your own API key, stored in macOS Keychain. Automatic weather sends coordinates; city searches send the place name. NewBar’s website does not proxy or receive those requests. See OpenWeather’s privacy policy.
Support and service email
Support forms store your email address, subject, message and enquiry status. They are queued for delivery to newbar@quickswitch.com.au through Google’s email service when connected. Account verification, recovery and purchase emails use the same delivery service. Pending messages are retained for retry; sent message bodies are removed from the website’s email queue. Avoid putting secrets or unrelated personal information in support messages.
Security logs and cookies
An essential secure session cookie keeps you signed in and protects forms against forged requests. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. The homepage counts page loads per day, without visitor profiles. Rate limits retain hashed network identifiers briefly to reduce abuse. The web server keeps access and error logs, which can include IP addresses, request paths and times. Account and activation tokens are not intentionally placed in logged query strings.
Storage, retention and access
Account, licence, order and support records are stored on the NewBar server. Payment and email providers can process information outside Australia. We retain account and entitlement records while needed to provide purchased access, investigate security issues and meet recordkeeping obligations. Closed support messages and expired security tokens are removed under the service’s retention schedule. Financial records may need to be retained after an account deletion request. Backups expire on their own retention schedule; deletion is not instantaneous in older backups.
Contact support to request a copy or correction of your information, close your account, or raise a concern. Closing an account removes the ability to manage activations and download updates. We will explain any records we must retain. We do not sell your personal information.
